I am a solo mom, homeschooling in Brooklyn, New York, while working full-time. I have a background in child psychology and development, and previously held positions in childcare, where I created engaging activities. I have always been a creative person with a history in visual arts and writing.
As the child of an Ecuadorian immigrant and raised by a single Italian mother, I have always valued education. However, becoming a parent changed me and my approach to teaching. I want my children to have the best of both worlds. I want them to be creative while learning.
My life is anything but ordinary. As the founder and content creator here at Blooming Brilliant, I share my journey, along with tips, techniques, and fun activities to bring creativity into your child’s education.
Why Blogging? Why Education?
I love children, not just my own, and I’ve always believed that learning should feel meaningful and playful, not rigid or one-size-fits-all.
When I had my daughter at 21 while finishing my college degree, I wanted to give her every opportunity I could. That led me deep into early childhood education. At the time, I didn’t know many parents my age, let alone parents teaching their children at home from infancy through toddlerhood. I started blogging to share what I was learning so other families could enjoy this journey, too.
As our children grew and we entered “official” homeschooling (first grade and beyond), Blooming Brilliant grew with us. We’ve tried traditional public school, and while homeschooling often comes with curious looks and even stranger questions, it has proven to be the perfect fit for our family.
Here, I focus on inclusive, creative, and realistic homeschooling, especially for families balancing work, caregiving, and life’s many responsibilities.
