Why You Should Add BrainPOP to Your Homeschool

Want to know why BrainPOP is the best educational online platform for your homeschool?

Are you looking for an online educational platform to inspire your children to learn? While I share many excellent curriculums, platforms, and programs, today, I’m going to share one of the best platforms we have used for years.

I’m so excited to share the wonder that is BrainPOP. It is a fantastic online educational platform that takes learning from boring to engaging with the click of a mouse or the tap of a finger. Before I share how BrainPOP is the best educational platform for your homeschool, please take a moment to pin this post to your homeschool board.

What is Brainpop?

BrainPOP is an online learning platform that is comprised of websites and apps based on high-quality animated content that covers a plethora of topics that meet US education standards. There are separate websites containing ELL, Mandarin, French, and Spanish content.

But it doesn’t stop there, while there are numerous options to choose from, the two leading websites are BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. Together, these two websites cover educational topics for kids aged 5 to fourteen, making BrainPOP and outstanding one-stop resource for all of your family’s needs.

What is Covered on BrainPop

BrainPOP covers various topics from science, social studies, English, math, art and music, engineering and tech and even health and SEL. They also stay up-to-date with everything including technology and trending topics. BrainPOP shows some of the characters on phones watching challenges but turns everything back to education, I think this is a great way to keep kids interested as it is not another boring educational app, it’s secretly fun and relatable. Everything children need to complete their academic work, ignite interest, and dive deep successfully can be found here.

Each subject is split into units or topics that cover a lot of concepts, and children can use this organized system to explore concepts or just use the search function to look for something that interests them. Check out the images below to see how neat everything is organized.

BrainPOP is the best place on the internet for your children to explore endlessly, encouraging and igniting curiosity.

Free Content

I found BrainPOP years ago and one thing that I love about them is that they offer tons of free content from lesson plans to videos and games. BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. even have a daily or weekly featured video which is free, all you need is to set up an account. The educators site is also free and offers the Game Up collection of games including lesson plans for free.

You can get a 30-day free trial code and explore all the fantastic free resources and browse through all the topics here. A code will be sent to you via e-mail, but there is no need for account registration or credit card.

Families can also do a full test run of BrainPOP, BrainPOp Jr. or Combo for 14 days free.

This requires a credit card and it offers you a 2 week full trial to BrainPOP Homeschool.

How does BrainPOP Work, What do I need to Use it?

BrainPOP doesn’t require any downloads, all you need is a device and an internet connection.

However you can download their app on a phone or tablet where kids can access videos and quizzes on the go.

Personally, I like letting my kids use it on our computer, because they have a bigger range or features on the browser version plus I can track their progress.

Both of my kids can explore BrainPOP on their own because BrainPOP is a safe environment with no pop-ups, advertisements or redirects. I am glad I can trust BrainPOP with my kids.

BrainPOP is the leader in Educational Online Platforms

I have been homeschooling for many years, and one of the first platforms we used was BrainPOP. I don’t remember how I learned about it, but I did, and when we started using it, we loved it! If you have been homeschooling for a little bit, then you have probably heard about BrainPOP and our favorite robot Moby. They have been around since 1999 and are the leader in educational platforms.

Dr. Avraham Kadar founded BrainPOP to help explain complex medical concepts to his young patients. It has since developed into a vital learning and exploration tool for over 300 million children worldwide. They are working on expanding their learning tools and helping kids create, construct and collaborate as they explore their world.

BrainPOP is made by a leading edtech company and trusted by over 6 million educators.

BrainPOP is one of the most revered online educational platforms in the United States, used by more than 70% of US schools during the pandemic. Various schools around the world also implement it. BrainPOP offers Spanish, Mandarin, and French versions as well as English.

BrainPOP’s mission is to ignite a love for learning, and they have surpassed this goal. This is backed by a study showing BrainPOP significantly improves children’s academic results and by the numerous awards the company has won over the years.

BrainPOP Family or Homeschool

When looking to subscribe to BrainPOP there are a few options, while at first it can be difficult to choose, looking at the overview of what each provides can be really helpful. Two of the most popular options are BrainPOP Family and Homeschool Combo.

A few years ago we had the BrainPOP Family option but now we have moved over to the Homeschool Combo plan. With the combo plan, you get access to both the junior and the regular site, providing content for ages 5 to fourteen.

Benefits of Using BrainPOP

● Build deeper understanding and higher order thinking skills across all subjects
● A learning approach proven to boost achievement in schools
● Active learning experiences that keep kids highly engaged, rather than passive
consumption
● Creative projects and learning games (movie-making, coding, simulations) that
allow kids to express knowledge and demonstrate understanding in their own
way
● Gives kids autonomy in how they learn, and feel ownership over their experience

What We think about BrainPOP

We have used BrainPOP for years in our homeschool and I recently changed to BrainPOP Homeschool Combo subscription which has opened so much more to us including movie-making, coding and simulations. I love BrainPOP because it is always evolving and getting better, the quality is top-notch and my kids enjoy using it.
