Craft Stick Shamrock Craft Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Gather all supplies. To create the large shamrock, line up two sets of three jumbo craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the shamrock pieces and attach them with a glue gun and glue sticks. Glue the halves together in an “X” pattern. Glue one jumbo craft stick at the base as the stem. Tip: You can use liquid craft glue for this project but must wait for it to dry.
  2. To create the small shamrock, line up two sets of four regular craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional standard craft sticks to the width of the shamrock pieces and attach them with a glue gun and glue sticks. Glue the halves together in an “X” pattern. Glue one regular craft stick at the base as the stem.
  3. Basecoat the front and sides of the craft stick shamrocks with light green, medium green, and dark green acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.
  4. Add patterns to the shamrocks. Create mini polka dots by dipping a new pencil eraser in acrylic craft paint and dotting it onto the shamrock. Create larger polka dots by dipping a sponge dauber in acrylic craft paint and dotting onto the shamrock. Mix and match the dots and colors for unique combinations.
  5. To finish the craft, stick shamrocks and tie rainbow striped ribbon into bows. Trim the long ends by cutting out a triangular-shaped notch with scissors. The notch gives the bow a finished look while also preventing the ribbon from fraying. Attach the bows to either the center or the stem of the shamrock.
