The Magic Half and Magic in the Mix
We are starting to share our summer reading picks with you. We have a variety of favorites including beginning chapter books and more advanced books like these. The Magic Half and Magic in the Mix by Annie Barrows gives readers a magical encounter with historical fiction that are sure to please anyone interested in magic or history.
Miri is lonely being stuck as the only non-twin in a family with two sets of them. When her family moves to an old farmhouse in a new town, the only good thing seems to be the magic that is unleashed in Miri’s ten sided attic bedroom. Without meaning to, she has found a way to travel back in time to 1935 where she discovers Molly, a girl her own age very much in need of a loving family.
The Review- The Magic Half
The Magic Half was a fun story once you get into it. At first it can be slow moving, but once you get into the story you can easily get hooked. The characters and relationships are very well developed leaving the reader easily able to fall in love with them. The story line is very detailed with lots of twists and turns that will leave you satisfied. These books will delight a more advanced reader.
The Book-Magic in the Mix
Twin sisters Miri and Molly are ready for a normal life. But just when they think everything is normal, something happens and a space in time is revealed and magic is unleashed from their very unique home. The girls set off on a brand new adventure that brings closure to some and trouble to others. Molly and Miri must find a way to save themselves and their wayward brothers from the past. Brimming with lovable characters and unbelievable magic, this sequel is sure to enchant new readers to Annie Barrows’ and historical non-fiction at it’s finest.
Review- Magic in the Mix
Magic in the Mix is a spectacular book that will grab a readers attention and make them beg for more. With a mix of enchantment and historical facts this book is a winner. Well developed and charming characters have the reader begging for all to be alright. This book was hard to put down because you needed to know how in the world it was going to end. In a magical book anything can happen.
