Homemade Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Lactation Cookies
With my first child, it was so difficult to keep up with milk supply especially while pumping and breastfeeding on demand. Between the stress of being a new mom and everything else that was going on in my life, production problems was not something I needed. Today I am sharing a homemade oatmeal chocolate chip lactation cookie that helped boost my milk production when I needed it.
What you will need to make homemade oatmeal chocolate chip lactation cookies:
Serves 54 and makes 4.5 dozen cookies
1 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
4 tablespoons flax seed meal
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups oats
1 cup chocolate chips
4 tablespoons brewer’s yeast
What to do to make homemade oatmeal chocolate chip lactation cookies:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix the flaxseed meal and water and let sit for 3-5 minutes.
- Beat butter, sugar and brown sugar well.
- Add eggs and mix well.
- Add flaxseed mix and vanilla beat well.
- Sift together flour, brewers yeast, baking soda and salt
- Add dry ingredients to butter mix.
- Stir in oats and chips.
- Scoop onto baking sheet
- Bake for 12 minutes
- Let them sit for a couple of minutes then remove from tray.
This recipe is great for mothers who are breastfeeding. It helps keep your milk supply up or increase your milk supply. Use more brewers yeast and oatmeal if you want to increase your supply. You can also use more chocolate chips or any other chips like peanut butter or even add raisins or other dried fruit to the mix.
