Pablo Neruda Poet of the People
Have you ever heard of Pablo Neruda? I personally learned about him in college, in a Spanish class. We had to read one of his poems, after that, I was hooked. For this Hispanic Heritage Month, I had to try to get some Pablo Neruda in there to introduce Isabella to him. Monica Brown continues creating masterpieces with Pablo Neruda Poet of the People written by Monica Brown, illustrated by Julie Paschkis.
Isabella learns so much from reading these non-fiction, biography picture books. Guess what so do I! Isabella and I read quite a lot together. These types of books in particular. Surprisingly I sometimes learn some new things, that I didn’t know before.
Pablo Neruda Poet of the People is another mesmerizing book written by Monica Brown, illustrated by Julie Paschkis. This book introduces the reader to Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, who was birth name was Neftali. He had to change his name in order to publish his poems because his father disapproved of his writing! Brown’s words are lyrical, swirling on the page and bringing color to Pablo’s story. Informing the reader of many things that inspired Pablo and made him who he was. I highly recommend this book, it is perfect for Hispanic Heritage Month or if you are learning about poets and/or poetry.
