You Are A Good Enough Homeschool Mom

You are a good enough homeschool mom
I believe that it is the very first wave that comes over you when you decide to homeschool. The wave of what the heck do I think I am doing!? How am I qualified to take on such a role in my children’s lives? There are so many times where I question my worth, where I feel like an imposter who is unqualified to be in control of my children’s learning and lives. I am saying this, so you know it is real, it is something we all feel at some point in our journey, and even though we feel this insecurity, you need to know that You are a good enough homeschool mom. Trust me! Before we continue, please take a moment to pin this post to your homeschool board.

Where is my certificate?
When I became a parent, I didn’t need to pass a test to bring home my baby. There was no course to take to ensure that I can handle the ups and downs of infancy, toddlerhood, the preschool years and beyond!!! Homeschooling doesn’t either; there is no test to take no certification; it is scary! Luckily there is a lot of help out there from people who have gone through the trenches and can offer support.
Support doesn’t wipe away insecurity
However, the support will not stop you from feeling like an imposter, like you have no qualifications to do what you are doing. We all have insecurities whether it is in a particular subject/ area or if it is just overall insecurity. Although I have no way to rid you of uncertainty in one flick of my magic wand, I can tell you that it is super important to believe in yourself.
Show your children how amazing you are
Think about it this way: do you want your children to believe in themselves? Sure you do, well step number one is to believe in your darn self! Show them that you believe you can do it. While it is great for our kids to see us struggle and persevere it is equally important to show them your confidence and self-love.
You truly are amazing
Know that you are amazing, that you can do anything you put your mind to. I believe that you have the power to do it all because you are smart and capable. You can research, you can ask for help, you can practice and work towards things. You have skills and experiences that make you plenty qualified to do this job.
Homeschooling is natural
It is amusing that we struggle with feeling capable and qualified as homeschoolers. Homeschooling is natural; we teach our children from the moment they are born. It is inside of us with our parenting qualifications. Does this mean we are naturally beautiful parents? Heck NO! We make so many mistakes, and some of us seem to be better than others, but that doesn’t mean that if want this we can’t work for it, that we are not capable of putting in the work and energy to do it.
Picture it
Take a minute, close your eyes, and picture the perfect homeschool mom. Say goodbye to anxiety and insecurity. Say yes to the experience, love, and passion you have and know that you are right for this job and that you have to power to do it and do it well. It won’t be perfect because nothing ever is, but it will be amazing.
